The beginning of lent

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of lent. To some this is just another day but to Catholic people this day symbolizes the sins that we are hoping to put behind us in order for us to be stronger catholics. Part of this yearly tradition is to go to mass and get ashes put on our forehead, fasten (basically meaning only two meals today with no snack or anything good in between), give up meat every Friday's, and worst of all to test our faith by our sacrifices basically meaning that we are to give up a habit or something we love for an entire 40 days!!! This year i have decided to give up the worst part of me which is my sailor mouth!!.. I do cuss like a sailor and being that i know it's super hard, it made this all the more challenging (since i haven't been exactly the most ideal christian) =(... Also i have been having a sweet tooth lately so I'm giving up sweets as well.. so farewell sodas, candies, cake , and much much more I am determine to make this work!

So today i started out determine but it's hard considering I have to find meat alternatives to eat..it gets really tricky, and for some odd odd reason it's whenever you can't have something you crave it so much more. Good thing for me i came prepared ...
say hello to my lunch... Believe it or not this meat substitute isn't bad at all... bake it in the oven , put a little bit of cheese ketchup and mayo and you got yourself a Burger. This right here will be my new best friend for 40 whole days... It certainly held me up for one of my two meals today. My poor boyfriend made the wrong choice and ate cereal ... guess who held off longer until dinner..

Because i can not stand processed food all day (not to mention an extremely hungry boyfriend) , for dinner i made some yummie Shrimp Pesto Alfredo Linguine with a side salad and water of course.. can't have sodas remember ... see I'm already doing so good =)...

At first i was a little nervous with lent around the corner but now that it's here... let see.....i got my ashes already, got my meal planned out, have my list of things to give up, so yup I'm ready to roll. Hopefully I'll loose some weight in the process of giving up meat and sweets!!!!! i think that would be a nice added in bonus =)
